Monthly Electricity Bill Calculator
The Monthly Electricity Bill Calculator estimates a utility tariff estimate for your scenario from the quantities, rates, period, units and other assumptions requested on the page. Replace the example values with your own monthly electricity bill figures and recalculate after changing an assumption. Treat it as a planning estimate and independently verify the current rule or provider terms.
Enter the number of units (kWh) used, select the supplier, and the system will calculate the electricity bill according to the current scale rate.
Calculation example
Residential (40 kWh): MEA ≈ 150 baht | PEA ≈ 130 baht
General household (80 kWh): MEA ≈ 300 baht | PEA ≈ 260 baht
Air-conditioned households (150 kWh): MEA ≈ 600 baht | PEA ≈ 520 baht
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between MEA and PEA?
MEA serves Bangkok, Nattaburi and Samut Prakan, while PEA serves other provinces. The main retail rate structure uses the same table, but the areas and channels of service are different.
How do you choose MEA or PEA?
Check your utility bill (the top shows the issuer) or look at your address state.
What is VAT 7%?
VAT for electricity VAT is calculated from the total electricity + service charge
What does the staircase mean?
The more power you use, the more expensive the unit price. For example, 15, the first unit costs 2.35 baht, but the units 16-25 cost 2.99 baht.
Can the results differ from the actual?
May vary because the electricity bill rate may have been revised. See the current bill to confirm the rate.
What is the electricity rate in Thailand?
Progressive Rate — The more you use, the more expensive it is per unit. MEA/PEA has a rate of 3 per period as announced by the Energy Regulatory Commission (EGC) plus the FT (Fuel Tariff) that changes every 4 month.
What is the FT value and how does it affect the power value?
FT (Fuel Adjustment Charge) is an adjustment based on fuel costs, adjusted every 4 months. If FT is positive, it means the electricity bill is more expensive. If it's negative it's cheaper. As a result, the monthly electricity bill can change by 5-15%.
How can we save on electricity?
Turn off non-user devices (standby consumes 5-10% of electricity bills), replace old bulbs with LEDs, set air conditioning to 25-26°C, wash once full, check insulation and seal refrigerator doors.
⚠️ Important.
This calculation is an estimate only. Electricity bill rates may change. Check your current bill to confirm the rate. For the latest updated formula, please contact MEA (1129) or PEA (1 023 per province) directly.
