What is a pension loan and how do you pay it?

The Education Loan Fund (ELF) is a Thai government program that provides loans to students who lack capital or need to borrow for education at a low interest rate of just 1% per year, with reduced capital and interest.

Repayment procedures.

  1. Study period: No payment but interest accrues annually (1% per year)
  2. Repayment period 2 Year end: Interest still accrues, no payment
  3. Start repayment: By January 2 Year After End Repayment 15 Year (180 Installments)

Calculations

  • Interest rate = principal × 1% × repayment period (years)
  • Debt at start of repayment = principal + interest on repayment period
  • The rate = PMT with interest deduction from actual debt × 1%/year × 15 years

How much interest does the IRA charge and when does it start paying?
