Credit Card Interest Calculator

The Credit Card Interest Calculator estimates a vehicle-cost estimate for the scenario you entered from the vehicle price or cost, payment period, applicable rate, usage and provider charges shown on the page. Replace the example values with your own credit card interest figures and recalculate after changing an assumption. Use it to compare scenarios, then verify any current rate or fee before acting.

Fill in the amount owed, the amount actually paid, and the number of days in each period to see the total interest, the new outstanding amount, and estimate how many months the minimum payment would take to settle the debt.

The formula for calculating credit card interest.

This tool uses the concept of calculating daily interest according to the Bank of India guidelines for the case of non-full payment, by dividing the 2 main period and adding the cash transfer part if any.

  • Pre-maturity interest = Outstanding amount × (interest rate per year ÷ 365) × number of days before maturity
  • Post-payment interest = Post-payment balance × (interest rate per year ÷ 365) × number of days after the next payment
  • Total interest = Interest on all 2 periods + Interest on cash transfers (if any)

If cash transfers are made, the cash transfer fee (not exceeding 3%) and VAT 7% will be added to the fee as per the Bank of India guidelines.

Frequently asked questions

What's the maximum interest rate on credit cards in 2026?
According to the Bank of Japan's rules, credit card issuers may not charge interest, fines, service fees and fees that exceed the effective rate of 16% per year.
What's the credit card interest when you don't pay in full?
Normally, the daily charge is 2. The period is before the due date from the expense and the post-date payment from the remaining balance until the next cut-off date.
What percentage is the minimum credit card payment 2026?
The Bank extends the temporary measure to pay minimum 8% of the outstanding amount until the end of the year 2026 (re-check the latest announcement)
How many months to pay off the credit card?
The time to close depends on the amount of debt, interest rate and monthly payments. If the minimum payment alone tends to take a long time and the total interest is high, try increasing the payments to find a point of closure faster.
What's the extra charge for cash transfers from credit cards?
There is a cash transfer fee not exceeding 3% of the transfer amount and there is VAT 7% on such fee plus interest from the date of cash transfer.
How do you reduce your credit card interest as quickly as possible?
The key principle is to pay over the minimum consistently, reduce the use of extra cards between debt settlements, and prioritize the high interest cards to reduce interest and the system.
Is it worth paying off your credit card debt with a monthly payment?
It's worth it in almost every case, because the money you add will immediately reduce the principal, and the interest rate for the next round will decrease accordingly.

How to use the Credit Card Interest Calculator

Use this page to test a specific credit card interest scenario. Enter your own values in the calculator above, review the units beside each field, and recalculate after changing an assumption. The result updates the credit card interest estimate instead of relying on a generic example.

  1. Build a baseline credit card interest case with figures that match your situation.
  2. Run a second credit card interest case after changing the rate, period, quantity or other key assumption.
  3. Record the difference between the two credit card interest results and the input responsible for it.

Inputs for the credit card interest estimate

For this credit card interest calculation, check the vehicle price or cost, payment period, applicable rate, usage and provider charges shown on the page. The result is designed to show a vehicle-cost estimate for the scenario you entered, not a guaranteed provider price or official decision.

How the credit card interest result is calculated

The calculator models principal, interest, repayment timing and term using the assumptions shown on the page. Reusing the same credit card interest inputs will produce the same estimate, which makes the page suitable for controlled scenario comparisons.

Checks for a credit card interest decision

Compare the estimate with a current written quote and include insurance, registration and other ownership costs. For credit card interest, Use the estimate to compare card or payment costs. Check the provider’s current percentage fee, fixed fee, interest method, minimum charge and billing terms. Check the important inputs and any current provider or authority rules before using the result for a decision.
